The 2005 Hans Christian Andersen bicentenary aimed at promoting wider awareness and appreciation of Hans Christian Andersen by sponsoring and endorsing the Andersen related cultural projects listed elsewhere on this website. Public relations and the dissemination of information were other means with which to achieve this goal.

When it comes to exposure and international media coverage, the Hans Christian Andersen bicentenary was one of the largest cultural projects to be featured in 2005.
