Danish official representatives played an important part by lending their support to the Andersen bicentenary. Among the officials were former ministers who attended the press launches and actively appointed Andersen Ambassadors abroad as well as at home.
The following former and presiding cabinet ministers took active part in the 2005 Andersen bicentenary:
- Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen presided over the launch of the 2005 Hans Christian Andersen bicentenary as well as the appointment of Andersen Ambassadors in China.
- Danish Minister of Cultural Affairs Brian Mikkelsen presided over the launch of the 2005 Andersen bicentenary and the appointment of Andersen Ambassadors in: Brazil, Denmark and the USA
- Danish Minister of Education and Ecclesiastical Affairs Bertel Haarder presided over the press launch of the Andersen bicentenary and the appointment of the Andersen Ambassadors in Switzerland.
- Minister for Development Cooperation Ulla Tørnæs presided over the press launch of the Andersen bicentenary and the appointment of Andersen Ambassadors in: Bosnia Herzegovina, Denmark, Greenland and Sweden
- Former Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Uffe Ellemann-Jensen presided over the launch of the Andersen bicentenary and the appointment of Andersen Ambassadors in Poland and the Czech Republic News
