The Danish royal family

The Danish royal family has been an invaluable asset in generating awareness of the 2005 Hans Christian Andersen bicentenary. Members of the royal family have publicly expressed great interest in the celebrations both abroad and at home.

The Danish royal family has taken part in the following press launches and ambassadorial appointments:

- Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark presided over the press launch of the Andersen bicentenary in Denmark and Japan. Her Majesty is furthermore patron of the 2005 Hans Christian Andersen bicentenary.

- HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark presided over the press launch of the Andersen bicentenary as well as the appointment of Andersen Ambassadors in: Australia, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, Britain, New Zealand, Germany and the USA

- HRH Prince Henrik of Denmark presided over the press launch of the Andersen bicentenary and the appointment of Andersen Ambassadors in Brazil and France.

- HRH Prince Joachim presided over the press launch of the Andersen bicentenary and the appointment of Andersen Ambassadors in: Denmark, Egypt, the Faroe Islands, Iraq, Croatia and Sweden

- HRH Princess Benedikte of Denmark presided over the press launch of the Andersen bicentenary and appointment of Andersen Ambassadors representing: Denmark, the Netherlands, Iceland, Lithuania, Luxemburg and Spain.

- HH Princess Alexandra of Denmark presided over the press launch of the Andersen bicentenary and appointment of Andersen Ambassadors representing: Chile, Finland and Russia.
